INFORMATIONS

The Urban studio is inherently complex and reflects some of the most complex systems created by humankind. Transportation is an essential piece of all major cities and airports are a major component of this system. In addition to providing the necessities of air transportation, they serve as urban gateways, cultural centers, iconic symbols of a place and much more. Because of their complexity and importance both in as urban, regional and global settings, the studio has selected an international competition which will serve as our learning laboratory. The project requires the use of the student learning outcomes as noted above. You will be asked to document clearly your process and provide evidence in an organized portfolio that each of these has been specifically met at the end of the semester. Please record your work. The competition format A diverse set of problems and challenges will be presented to the students. Each student is required to put the diverse set of circumstances into a cohesive whole (with some guidance and critique) to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of urban design issues within the Global Track.
