The Hawaii Longshore Local Union has been an integral part of the maritime industry in Hawaii for over a century, representing the interests of waterfront workers. We are committed to ensuring the welfare of our members, preserving our maritime heritage, and fostering community engagement. In partnership and collaboration with the University of Hawai’i Community Design Center (UHCDC), Hawaii Longshore Local Union will provide the opportunity to create a vast maritime museum facility for the people of Hawai’i.
"Aloha Maritime Center" at Honolulu Harbor, a multifaceted facility that will serve as the main hub for Hawaii's Longshore Local Union activities, a vibrant community gathering space, a longshore workforce development training and conference center, state-of-the-art workout facilities for union members' health and wellness, and a captivating Hawaii Maritime Museum.
As proof of the concept, students will make a design proposal of “The Aloha Maritime Center” located at Honolulu Harbor, strategically positioned to serve as a central hub for maritime activities in Hawaii.
